Special Awards
JERRY PETH MEMORIAL AWARD
Jerry Peth of Bow, Washington was one of the men who organized the Puget Sound Junior Livestock Show and Sale. In his memory, a friend and the Show set up the Jerry Peth Memorial Award. This Award is presented to one 4-H Exhibitor and one FFA Exhibitor at each Show, who has been recommended by their leader or instructor for their outstanding leadership, citizenship, and character. Applicants must submit an application, stating qualifications, by 12 noon on Friday of the show. Applications may not be altered and cannot exceed 2 (two) pages. Applicants must apply in the division in which they are showing, i.e. you cannot show in FFA and apply in 4-H, etc. Applicants will be interviewed by the Committee starting at 4 p.m. on Friday. Place of interviews will be posted at the Show Office. Only 2 (two) applicants from each chapter or club will be allowed. Selection is made by the Interviewing Committee. TED LARSON RECORD BOOK AWARD
A plaque will be presented to the top Record Book winner in each division, 4-H and FFA.
HOWARD E. HOWELL INSPIRATIONAL AWARD REQUIREMENTS:
Howard E. Howell was a FFA advisor and show committee member who believed that the Puget Sound Junior Livestock Show was not just for those students who excelled in the show ring. He created the Howard E. Howell Inspirational Award to recognize these students who showed perseverance in the face of obstacles and/or displayed those characteristics of community service and support of others.
Recipient will be selected based on their actions toward others, the example they set and reflecting the perseverance of the Honoree. Written nominations need to be submitted to the office by Friday at 8pm. (A short paragraph).
Beef Special Awards
Awards may be given if a representative is available.
4 BAR W AWARD
4 Bar W will award $50 to the 4-H and FFA Grand Champion Market Steer if they are 50% or more Simmental.
SKAGIT COUNTY CATTLEMEN’S ASSOCIATION AWARD
The Skagit County Cattlemen’s Association will give $50 to all Skagit County steers, 4-H and FFA.
DOUBLE O RANCH MAINE-ANJOU AWARD
The Double O Ranch will award $25 to all Maine-Anjou sired steers. Must be 75% or more Maine-Anjou.
SNOHOMISH COUNTY CATTLEMEN’S ASSOCIATION AWARD
The Snohomish County Cattlemen’s Association will give a cash award to all Snohomish County steers in 4-H and FFA divisions.
RED ANGUS AWARD
TMG Enterprises will present $25 to any Red Angus or Red Angus influenced (must be minimum 50%) Weight Class Winner and $100 to any Red Angus or Red Angus influenced Grand Champion.
AWARDS
AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:
1. GRAND AND RESERVE GRAND CHAMPIONS in FFA and 4H, per species, will receive a BELT BUCKLE.
2. WEIGHT CLASS CHAMPIONS AND RESERVE CHAMPIONS in FFA and 4H, per species, will receive banners.
3. GRAND AND RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION SHOWMAN in FFA and 4H, per
species, will receive a SPECIAL AWARD.
4. FITTING AND SHOWING CHAMPIONS AND RESERVE CHAMPIONS in FFA and 4H, per species, will receive banners.
5. RECORD BOOK AWARDS include Top Junior and Senior Record Book for FFA
and Top Junior, Intermediate and Senior 4-H Record Book.
6. HERDSMANSHIP: Awards in FFA and 4H for Beef, Meat Goat, Chicken, Sheep and
Swine divisions.
7. LIVESTOCK JUDGING CONTEST: FFA - Award to the highest scoring individual,
awards given to the top 5 teams. 4-H - Awards will be given to the top two livestock
judges in each age group including Junior, Intermediate and Senior division.
